Bottle
Label Text
This Edo period stoneware bottle, with a lustrous brown glaze and crackled, grayish-white overflow, was one of a number of Japanese ceramics that Freer purchased from Yamanaka and Company in 1898. A decade later, he displayed it in the Peacock Room on one of the high shelves to the right of La Princesse du pays de la porcelaine.
